Robert trained Team GB for 2005 & 2007 World Championships with Boyd Exell. He prepares ponies and horses to successfully compete at Novice to Advanced level in various disciplines (carriage driving, eventing and dressage). Robert has produced ponies for Julie Camm and has successfully competed them all over Europe. Robert has represented GBR at the last three Combined Pony World Championships (team bronze medallist 2015).

Robert specialises in classical correct way of going.

You could say carriage driving is in Taras’s blood. Her grandfather Dick Wilkinson initially taught Tara’s Dad, John, to drive, then her older brother Ross took the reins. Tara’s mother Leslee also drives and regularly competes.

Tara has been brought up with carriage driving and started at a very young age. She has had numerous wins, competing all over the world and was a world champion at the very young age of 15. What an achievement! This year alone she competed as part of the British Single Horse Carriage Driving Squad in France at the Le Pin au Haras event with her horses Cruze and Kadans. Tara will also be supporting our young drivers at the European championships in July at Flyinge in Sweden, as one of the trainers.

We are delighted to be able to offer this training up in the Aberdeenshire area and very excited to meet Tara and hear all about her recent travels. Team Wilkinson are very busy competing and training and we are very fortunate that Tara has managed to squeeze us in to her busy schedule.

Training sessions will consist of 45-minute individual slots at a cost of £55 per session. To book, please email trainingaberdeenshire@gmail.com No booking is confirmed until payment is received. We are delighted to be able to offer this training up in the Aberdeenshire area.

Bex is a very accomplished driver having started driving after a bet between her husband and mother at the 2015 National Championships. She started in the Novice Pony class and progressed through the levels, getting to her first World championship in 2021. Driving is truly a family affair and Bex is accompanied by her husband Jamie on the back step with her coloured cob Woodie. You could say that carriage driving runs in her blood with her grandmother being Gladys Dale and her mother being well known tandem driver Carol Lumsden (Boswell, Dale). Bex enjoys coaching, and has many tricks up her sleeve to help drivers improve. She has gained so much knowledge as she has progressed through the levels and is delighted to pass this on. She is now a UKCC2 coach.

Training sessions will consist of 45-minute individual slots at a cost of £46 per session.

SCDA is pleased to announce that Jan de Boer will once again be providing a series of training clinics to be held throughout 2024

The price is £66 per lesson plus £15 (expenses/venue). There is a limit of 2 lessons per driver.  If you wish to take up more than two lessons, these will be put on a waiting list and we’ll let you know if/when the additional lessons would be available. 

As usual, your space(s) will be reserved once payment has been made. If you have to pull out, we’re afraid payment still stands unless the space can be filled by another driver.

Backsteppers’ Training clinic

Westmill Farm, Dolphinton, South Lanarkshire EH46 7HH – kindly hosted by Graeme and Pam MacArthur

A half-day clinic suitable for backsteppers of all levels of experience.

Schedule:

1030-1100 Welcome Teas/Coffees
1100-1200 Presentation and discussion of key elements of being a backstepper
1200-1230 Guidance and examples of marathon section timings

1230-1300 Lunch break with Q&A

1300-1430 Practical exercises using experienced turn-outs and sample marathon obstacle (outdoor – dress for the weather!)
1430-1500 Wrap-up and feedback

Tea, Coffee and soft drinks provided.

Please bring your own packed lunch, plus hard hat and back protector if you have them.
